PROJECT PROPOSAL

The terms “wearable technology“, “wearable devices“, and “wearables” all refer to electronic technologies or computers that are incorporated into items of clothing and accessories which can comfortably be worn on the body. These wearable devices can perform many of the same computing tasks as mobile phones and laptop computers; however, in some cases, wearable technology can outperform these hand-held devices entirely. Wearable technology tends to be more sophisticated than hand-held technology on the market today because it can provide sensory and scanning features not typically seen in mobile and laptop devices, such as biofeedback and tracking of physiological function.
(Tehrani,
website,2014) I plan to create a website to explore how these technologies affect people and what they do to make our lives easier. I intend to go to technology fairs such as Wearable Technology Fair and the Gadget Show live. Research how designer like Iris van Herpen uses 3D printing to make her dresses. I also plan to interview end users of gadgets such as wristbands, smart watches and Google Glass to see how they use them and how they interact with this technology, as well as interviewing experts about the growth and the future of wearable techs.

I will use the 3D printer and 3D softwares like Maya to create and print a dress or parts of one. I might encounter some troubles if the design is too complicated, which in that case can make the process longer and expensive. If that is the case, I'll have to look for alternatives. I also will use Adobe softwares, which I'm currently learning how to use it, to try to create the website and other possible editing that must be done.
