Today I looked into types of layouts that I could use on my website. Just like the name, I also had a rule for layout: "it HAD to be simple and clean with a proper respect to white space". As a result, I went to Pinterest and collected a couple of images of the type of layout I wanted to use. I picked the ones I wanted and I realised that all of them had a huge amount of white space and different forms. I could play with forms and white space and make my text bigger and bolder with nice and colourful images. But at the same time I feel attract to ultra simple layouts with little text and extremely clean images, maybe I can play with both and mix them up. I can add forms and have white space, even though I prefer having great big images with simple text. I will experiment more with it.
I thought about a clean design with a slideshow covering the whole width of the page and then have the secondary features underneath it. A logo on top and categories right below. Maybe a sidebar with some feeds on it, but still experimenting with it.
But after some talk with my tutor he said my design was boring and that I should do more visual research on different layouts and styles. That my theme was really interesting but that I should find a way to use my imagery to attract the fashion community as well as the technology. That it should be bolder and classy at the same time, that I should think about having an identity, on every page so you can see clearly that it doesn't matter where you go it's the same. And that is what I'm doing next.
